Sit On Top Surf Kayaking: Any Level - Helmet - check. Thigh Straps - check. Sit On Top Shred Sled - check. Surf school of hard knocks starts here. High fun, low stress kayaking in surf starts here. Session covers safety, remounts, and basic control. What happens when you capsize? You decide.. roll or remount. Want to try a tandem Sit On Top in the Surf? One is fun, two’s a party. They call them divorce boats.. we call them Bro Skis. Communication, timing, and team work turns these strife beaters into some super fun ways to enjoy some off shore surf. - $85

Disaster Day Trip: Incident Management -
When risk assessment fails, we move into incident management - stop the dominoes before they all fall. Speed rescues, contact tows, communication, and situational awareness makes for a fun class on the water. Location: Back River and Conditions: Wind, Flat Water to Bump - $85

Surf Ski: Flat Water Intro:
Originally invented to rescue people from the surf, these vessels are fast and light. This session covers fit, posture, remounts, and boat control. It is a shakedown before heading out of the Back River. - $85

Sea Kayaking in the Surf: Better Boat Control -
Utilizing waves energy to go further faster, when a wave hits your kayak it will do one of two things… 1) Kick your ass. 2) Energize you. Wee will be focusing on the latter. - $85

Intro to Surf Kayaking: Sit ins -
What is the shortest boat you have paddled in the waves? How about sub 9 ft? Long boats are fast, but short boats are fun! Going straight is not the goal, which is good because these boats like to turn. Let your Surf Kayak University learning start here. - $85

Learn to Roll -
Acclimation to inversion is a key component to the Eskimo Roll. So too is composure. Eskimo bow rescues are the place to start. Powering through your torso with upper and lower body separation is a great place to finish. Location: Back River and Conditions: Calm. - $85

Sea Kayaking Wave Prep: Strokes & Rescues -
If necessity is the mother of invention, then adaptation is the sister of necessity. If we are to thrive in the waves, then we have to adapt some foundation skills and work to solidify them. Don’t let your maneuverability become your vulnerability. Location: Back River and Conditions: Calm to Bumpy - $85

FRIDAY 1:00-4:00

Rolling in the Surf: All Kayaks - You can roll in the pool, you can roll in the river.. but how is your roll in the surf? or shallow water? The combat roll is the secret to your sea or surf kayaking success. For this session, we will use sea kayaks, surf kayaks, or whitewater kayaks.. for this beach-based high level activity. Helmets required. - $85

Kayak Camping the Georgia Coast -
So you want to paddle the 100 miles of the Georgia Coast? How long do you want to take? Which way are you going to go? Where are you going to camp? It’s awesome. It takes a lot of planning and prep. Steve Braden has done it many times and is a wealth of information. This course is lecture-style and not conducted on the water. - $25

Surf Ski: Open Water Intro -
Beyond the Back River, the ski becomes a great vessel for fitness, fun, and adventure. After reviewing assisting and self remounts in the surf, we will start looking at some downwind action, - $85

Brace, brace, brace. This is a fundamental skill for bracing in the waves. The technique is a simple one. The learning is experiential. going from flat water to small breaking surf. Baby steps will take us beyond the Back River. Location: Back River and Bucks. Conditions: Calm to Small Breaking Waves - $85

SATURDAY 9:00-12:00

Sea Kayaking in the Surf: Turn & Burn - For the paddler with a solid brace, good roll, and carefree disposition. Not just catching waves, but turning, steering, and redirecting your kayak.. your way, your style. This class covers sledding speed, staying high, and exit strategies. - $85

Rough Water Rescues -
Self reliance is paramount in the Sea Kayaker’s vocabulary. So too is sticking together. Without a doubt rough water rescues can be tough in the best of times. “Stay calm, take charge, you got this!” - $85

Surf Ski: Forward Stroke & Fitness Paddling -
Some say there are only two strokes in kayaking... one on the left and one on the right. (These are the people in the yellow kayaks.) In fact there is really only one stroke… forward stroke. Master this stroke and master your kayak, master your own destiny. Location: Back River and Conditions: Calm with Current - $85

Surf Kayaking: Intermediate -
This class is for the competent open water sea kayaker, surfer, or whitewater paddler who is looking for another challenge… surf kayaking in surf kayaks! The action comes thick and fast, as you realize that you can brace down wave. - $85

Stand Up Surf Intro: Gear, Logistics, Safety -
SUP Da Surf I…. This class transitions the paddler from flat water to ocean-side surf. Wipe outs and remounts are our way of life. So too is paddling out. Get comfy in the impact zone. Understand, observe, and relax. You’ll soon understand why we like to tie our shorts on. - $85

Half Day Trip: Coastal Navigation -
Three hour Navigation primer, on water. Headings, bearing, and course.. oh my! Know where you are and then figure out where you are going. - $85

Surf Ski: Open Water Surfing -
The ski is the ultimate off shore racing boat. Master control in the waves and the art of remount. Down wind, down wave will be the name of this game. Location: Frontside and Conditions: Wind & Waves - $85

Surf Kayaking: Intermediate -
This class is for the competent open water sea kayaker, surfer, or whitewater paddler who is looking for another challenge… surf kayaking in surf kayaks! The action comes thick and fast, as you realize that you can brace down wave. - $85

SUP Surf 101: Techniques for the Beginner -
SUP II… Paddling out is half the fun and an essential aspect of surfing. This session covers where you need to be and when you need to be there. Identify and utilize sets, shoulders, rips, and proper wave selection. - $85

Paddling in Groups: Risk Assessment & Group Management -
Who do you paddle with? Is their boat safe, sea worthy? Are they dressed correctly? Often times, open water incidents can be avoided before leaving land. This class is for those who regularly paddle with a club, meet up group, family, and friends. We will cover formation, communication, leading a group, and equipment. Location: Back River and Condition: Calm, Wind, Small Waves - $85

SUPping in the Surf: Catching & Riding the Wave -
Turns and runs. Bottoms, tops, and diagonals. This session puts it all together. Using the paddle to aid through turns, along with some fancy footwork, makes for some stylish surfing. Rail to rail transfers coming your way! - $85
