This 5 day workshop is centered around currently certified ACA Instructors looking to upgrade or increase their instructor certifications. If you are already an ACA instructor in other disciplines like Sea Kayaking, Whitewater, Ski, or Canoe, then this is a great opportunity to add Surf Kayak Instructor to your resume.
L2 Surf Kayak Instructor - Thursday - Saturday, Oct 23-25. Cost $350. If you are looking to be certified Instructor at Level 2- Essentials of Surf Kayaking the prospective instructor must show competency, good judgement and ownership of the L2 curriculum. L3 Surf Kayak Instructor - Thursday - Sunday, Oct 23-26. Cost $450. For those looking to teach students in more technically advanced boats and larger waves, the L3 Surf Kayak Instructor must show competency, good judgement and ownership of the L3 curriculum over 4 days. L4 Surf Kayak Instructor - Thursday - Monday, Oct 23-27. Cost $550. This is for those looking to teach more dynamic surf kayaking skills in performance boats and more challenging conditions. This workshop is not just for instructors however. It is for anyone interested in sit down paddle surfing, or looking to gain greater depth of knowledge, technique and experience. From complete novice to experienced surfer, there will be something for everyone! Other programs included at this event will be Hobson Kayak Demos, Sunday Expression Session / Practice Comp, Saturday Evening Low Country Boil with Live Music, Adaptive Sit Surf Presentation from MacSki, and a Used Surf Kayak Corral.
Weekend Schedule
Thursday - ACA Boxes, Swim test, 1st Aid and Surf Rescue, Flat Water Strokes, Deep Water Reentry
Friday - Focus on L2 candidates, SOT Surfing, L2 class presentations
Saturday - Last day for L2 with practice students, L3 intro to performance surf boats, L3 class presentations, Parking Lot Party at the shop.
Sunday - Dawn Patrol Expression Session/Competiton, Last day for L3 with practice students, L4 intro to performance surfing.
Monday - Last day for L4, performance surfing demos and presentations.

Kayak and Equipment Rental
Plastic Sit on Top or Surf Kayak (includes paddle and helmet) - $30 / day
Composite Surf Kayak (includes paddle and helmet) - $60 / day
Practice Students
Practice students are needed each day for the Instructor Candidate students to teach. If you are interested in partaking, and are looking to gain insight into what is involved with becoming an ACA Surf Kayak Instructor, then this is an excellent opportunity. All practice students may attend free of charge. Please call to register.
Cancellation Policy
Participant cancellations require two week’s notice for a refund. Cancellations by Savannah Canoe and Kayak due to severe weather will be eligible for a refund minus a 5% processing fee.
